Nando’s flagship ‘Casa’ is back with a fresh new look in City Centre Mall – July 2021

Nando’s opened its first Casa (restaurant) in Qatar in 2001 at Salwa Road and due to its immediate popularity, opened another Casa the very next year at the City Center Mall, Doha. This City Center Mall Casa has been their most popular to date, going from strength to strength, through good times and bad times.

Nando’s is famous for its flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken as well as for its love and passion for Southern African contemporary art. As for design, each Nando’s restaurant is uniquely designed – no two are the same.

About the makeover of this popular Casa at City Center, Nando’s design and architect team said; “Our main objective for the Nando’s City Centre’s design was to feature a space with strong patterns, an inviting ambiance, and vibrant colours that boldly represents the Southern African heritage of Nando’s.  This is particularly evident in the Afro-Portuguese tribal patterns and handmade green decorative wall tiles.

The contrast created by playing industrial style finishes off against natural elements, contributes to the uniqueness of the spaces. Woven fabric with geometrical patterns was used on the furniture in combination with Pop Art influences of colour in the upholstery.

Southern African original art pieces adorn the walls thus showcases Nando’s love of art. The design is rounded off by an authentic and modern addition of handwoven monochromatic light pendants by South-African designer maker Ashanti.

About the makeover, Sajed Jassim Mohd. Sulaiman, Vice Chairman & Managing Director – Nando’s Qatar said, ‘’Out of many things that we are proud of in Nando’s, our interior design and love for Southern African art is among them. We invite the chicken and the art lover to come by and have a look at this beautifully renovated Casa. We guarantee that it is worth taking a trip from any part of the country.

Interesting fact is that with more than 21000 artworks, Nando’s is the largest collector of contemporary Southern African art in the world. The collection can be found on the walls of more than 1200 restaurants on 5 continents across the globe.
